For the past 16 years, the Heritage Bowl matchup between Carver and Spencer has been a rivalry in name only. The Tigers had reeled off 16 straight wins in the series dating back to 1998, including wins of 63-0, 52-0, 47-6, 40-3 and 44-13 in the past five.

Jasaad is a member of FCCLA, the art club, the Greenwave football team and the Greenwave wrestling team. He plans to go to college and major in Art.

James played in the Heritage Bowl rivalry his freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior years. During James time a Spencer they split the series 2-2 with G.W. Carver. Winning the Heritage Bowl in 1966 & 1968. After Graduating from W.H. Spencer James Played four years at Tennessee State University. After finishing at TSU, Monk Signed a 3 year deal with the San Francisco 49ers in 1976.
Wallace Davis

Coach Wallace Davis, The legendary high school football and track and field coach at Carver high school for 28 years. Coach Davis, who retired after the 2004 season, with 127 wins as a head coach in the state of Georgia. Coach Davis Played at Spencer High School from 1958-61 under legendary coach Odis Spencer, he earned a 4-year football scholarship to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. he signed a pro football contract as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Davis coached 28 times in the Heritage Bowl as the head coach at Carver winning 20 times.

GAME SUMMARY

Carver extended that streak to 17 in a row on Friday at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in front 5,000 fans, but for nearly three quarters, Spencer injected some competition back into the rivalry. The Tigers won 21-7 over the Greenwave behind the strength of three second-half touchdowns. Senior quarterback and game MVP Jawoun Pass capped off a 10-play, 82-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter. Senior defensive back Javontay Smith sprinted 38 yards to the end zone for an interception return with 35 seconds left in the third quarter. This was the Great American Rivalry’s first time for both schools, Fans, players and coaches were excited to be apart of this rivalry series.
