Welcome to Swede Football Stadium in California, where 6,000 fans will fill the stands for a classic rivalry clash between the Carlsbad Lancers and the La Costa Canyon Mavericks. First played in 1997, this heated matchup will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, which showcases more than 100 of the top high school football rivalries across the country. Locally, it’s known as the “Rotary Cup” a name that adds tradition and meaning to this annual showdown. 

Since 2004, the series has been tight, with La Costa Canyon holding a narrow 13–11 edge in 24 total meetings. Last season, the Mavericks earned a 21–11 victory, snapping a six-game win streak by Carlsbad. These two powerhouse programs have even met four times in the playoffs over the last 20 seasons, adding another layer of intensity and familiarity to their storied history.
