Get ready for the “Cat Clash” at Larry Stewart Memorial Stadium on October 18th, as the Blue Springs South Jaguars host the Blue Springs Wildcats. 

This game, part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, continues a fierce rivalry that began in 1994. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 21-12, but the Jaguars have won every matchup since 2021, including last year’s thrilling 28-24 victory. Expect a packed crowd of 3,500 looking for reasons to cheer on their side. Last season saw several explosive plays which included a 50-yard touchdown pass and numerous long runs.  

Notably, Blue Springs has produced great talents like defensive duo Ikenna Ezeogu and Carson Willich, both committed to Iowa State in 2021.

Dominic Bruce

Blue Springs South

Senior Dominic Bruce is the JAGS starting left tackle, receiving all conference academic and athletic recognition his junior year. He is also a two-year letterman for the JAGs wrestling team. Dom currently holds a 4.3 overall GPA, 34 ACT, and a standing in the top 5% of his current Senior Class of 550 students. Following graduation, Dom intends to continue his academic excellence in mechanical engineering and play collegiate football.
Gabe Thomsen

Gabe is a proud member of the football and track programs at Blue Springs High School. He currently serves as a member of Student Senate, and constantly is on the lookout for opportunities to spread his leadership in ways that align with wildcat way, as well as helping create an environment that everyone wants to be a part of. While undecided as to where he will continue his academic career, Gabe hopes to take part in an accounting program somewhere close to home. Currently, his primary focus for this year is completing his goal of earning straight A’s throughout his high school career.

GAME SUMMARY

In this spirited edition of the "Cat Clash”, Blue Springs South edged out a 30-20 victory over Blue Springs in a defensive battle that came down to the wire. Both teams showcased their defensive prowess for the majority of the first half, with neither able to find the end zone early on. Blue Springs South appeared to have the game under control, jumping out to a commanding 23-3 lead. However, Blue Springs slowly fought their way back, chipping away at the deficit until they trailed by just three points entering the fourth quarter with the score at 23-20. In the end, Blue Springs South held on, adding a late score to secure the victory, with the game totaling 50 points. The intense rivalry lived up to its name, providing fans with a thrilling back-and-forth contest.
