Batavia had a lot on the line in their 97th meeting with Batavia. They are enjoying a long standing winning streak over their Rival and a win at this game would clinch the Upstate Eight Conference River championship. Geneva would like nothing better than to dash their hopes.

Geneva kept things close until Bulldog freshman Jack Carlson's 28-yard field goal with 3:04 remaining gave Batavia a 2-score cushion. The Bulldogs defense made one last stop to get the 24-14 win and improve coach Dennis Piron to 5-0 against the Vikings since taking over as head coach. "We really want to win this game," Piron said. "We think about it, we plan for it, we talk about it. We're ecstatic. “ “To Geneva's credit, they played great defense. Their line, their linebackers, are tough.“
