Seymour ended a 21-year win drought against their rivals, Ansonia, knocking off the Chargers 21-14 in dramatic fashion. It was their first victory over Ansonia since October 16, 2004, and the first ever win at DeBarber Field. Ansonia jumped out to an early lead. Around the end of the second quarter, Crishon Fogle ran in from 12 yards out for a touchdown, and later Tymir Taylor added a 4-yard touchdown run. Both extra points were converted. That made it 14-0 in favor of Ansonia with under 10 minutes left in the half. The Wildcats started to claw back as Junior Connor Shea scored on a 12-yard touchdown run, and just before halftime, punched in another from a one yard out Tush Push. With the second extra point by Jordan Gonzales, the game was tied 14-14 at the half. The third quarter was quiet, neither team could find the end zone. As the fourth quarter wore on, Ansonia looked like they might regain momentum when they recovered a fumble deep in Seymour territory. But the Wildcats forced another turnover, setting up a final drive. With 21.9 seconds left on the clock, Shea broke free on a 28-yard run to put Seymour ahead 21-14. A furious last defensive stand followed, sealing the Wildcat victory.
