The 71st meeting between these two national powerhouses was one of the most exciting the series has seen, as the Region 7-5A title was on the line. The game opened up with the Hornet’s QB Trey Smith giving Roswell an early lead with his first rushing touchdown of the night. Milton would respond with a long rushing touchdown of their own to tie the game in the first. Trey Smith continued to dominate the game on the ground as he would lead the Hornets offense down the field to punch in two more touchdowns on the ground, giving Roswell a 21-7 lead. Just before half, Milton cut into the deficit with a 75-yard rushing touchdown to make it 21-13 at the break. The Hornets continued to control the game in the second half, as the fourth touchdown for Smith extended the lead halfway through the third. Milton was not going to go down without a fight, as the Eagles came storming back, scoring 14 unanswered points to make it 28-27 going into the fourth. The Hornets opened the final quarter strong, as another rushing touchdown was followed up by a field goal to make their lead 11 points with only 7 minutes to go. As they had all night, Milton continued to fight as they responded with a rushing touchdown before recovering an onside kick, and throwing a touchdown pass to take the lead with 2 minutes to play. With one last opportunity, Roswell made their way down field before their drive stalled, leaving the game in the hands of kicker Balint Vorosmarty. He lined up for a 48-yard field goal to take the lead with less than a minute to play, and nailed it. The Hornets defense made one final stop, as Roswell took down Milton for the first time since 2018, and brought home the Region 7 5-A Championship.
