Welcome to Veterans Memorial Stadium, where the Lawrence Central Bears and Lawrence North Wildcats will battle to hoist the Dwayne C. Bell Trophy. This in-town rivalry dates back to 2004 and is a highly anticipated matchup in the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series.
The two teams have matched up 28 times in total, and the Lawrence Central Bears currently hold a narrow 17-11 lead in the all-time series. However, the Wildcats of Lawrence North took a step forward last season when they swept the Bears, including a dominant 38-16 victory in their final matchup of the season. This rivalry has been a battle of runs, with both teams having stretches of brilliance. Lawrence North has won 7 out of the last 8 matchups, but prior to that, Lawrence Central held a 15-game winning streak over the Wildcats from 2008 to 2019.
