Radnor and Lower Merion first met on the gridiron October 26th, 1897. Every year since then, both teams have come together for the oldest continuing high school rivalry game in the country. On Saturday, November 3rd the teams faced off at Lower Merion High School for the 116th meeting of the Radnor Raiders and the Lower Merion Aces. Lower Merion held the lead over Radnor in the overall rivalry with a record of 56-48-11. Going in to this year’s game, both teams had identical season records, but one would come out on top.

Luke is a first year player at Godby High School, but he has taken Godby by storm! As an All-State player in 2011, Luke has just been named 1st Team All-District, he has also been honored as a WCTV Student Athlete honoree, and is the Godby High School Wendy’s Heisman winner. Jonathan Mason

Lincoln

Jonathan is a 2 year letterman on the varsity football team, he also participates in track and field as well as weightlifting. He is a 3 year member of the chorus, a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta club. He has been recognized as the Offensive Lineman of the Week twice. He plans to earn a law degree and continue playing football in college. Presenting the award is Marine Captain Bastian and Marine Staff Sergeant Ramers … Congratulations Jonathan.

Bobby Green

Godby

Bobby was a member of the Godby High School Football team. He played in the Godby vs. Lincoln rivalry game and didn’t like Lincoln or the other rivalry Leon. Bobby graduated from Godby in 1988 where he had great career playing football. He was a linebacker and was the player of the year in Tallahassee and is considered one of the fastest and best players in the state. Currently he lives in Tallahassee where he is a Leon County Sheriff’s Deputies Sergeant. Presenting his award is Marine Captain Bastian and Marine Staff Sergeant McMurtrie.

Leon Brockmeier

Lincoln

Accepting this award is Leon’s wife, children, family and friends. Leon passed away in late September and tonight we want to honor him. Leon played in the Lincoln-Godby rivalry from 1994-1996 at the Offensive Tackle position. He was named a CSPN All-American, was a member of the Florida Super 24 team, and made the First-Team All-State in Florida. He lead the Lincoln Trojans to a 10-0 season in 1996 where they finished 3rd in the Florida 6A rankings. Leon went on to a great career at Northwestern University from 1997-2001 starting 35 career games and helping Northwestern University to a Co-Big Ten Title in 2000 as they lead the league in total offense. Presenting his award is Marine Captain Bastian and Marine Staff Sergeant Ramers. May he rest in peace and please give a hand to Leon’s family as we honor him with the Lincoln Hall of Fame Award.

GAME SUMMARY

First half gets started with the Cougars getting the points up early with their first touchdown, with Lincoln answering back bringing the score quickly 7-7. Yet another touchdown for the Godby Cougars, as half time is approaching Godby scores yet another touchdown while Lincoln kicks a field goal going into halftime with a score of 19-13. Third quarter, Cougars have an awesome touchdown pass, with only minutes into the second half, Lincoln's turn with the ball and they capitalize with a 50-yard touchdown, making the score 26-22. With just 11 minutes left in the game Godby has a 40-yard kick return to give them great field position. Godby scored yet again on a 45-yard touchdown run! The Trojans quickly answer back with a quick touchdown, as Godby scores, not one, but two touchdowns back to back without the Trojans even moving the ball. The Godby Cougars have done the unthinkable; they defeated the Lincoln Trojans with a final score of 40-28 for the first time in 5 years.
