The Male vs. Manual game is a classic match-up and is the oldest rivalry west of the Allegany River. This game was also going to decide who won the District between the unbeaten Male Bulldogs and 6-2 duPont Manual Crimsons. Coming into this game both teams were highly ranked in the states top five and Male even broke into the National Rankings with their undefeated record. This game was sure to be a great one and it lived up to the hype.

Male

Davis is a three year Letterman on the Male Varsity Football team. He was the 2013 District Player of the Year and is a 2014 All-State selection. He is undecided on his college of choice but plans to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine.

Jacob Key

Manual

Jacob is a four year starter on the Varsity Football Team. He was selected an All-District player at the Tackle position and was a 2013 Honorable Mention to the All-State team. He is undecided on his college of choice.

Ibn Green

Male

Ibn was a two year All-State player and went on to play at the University of Louisville. He is considered to be the best WR ever to play at Male.

Chris West

Manual

Chris was a key player for the Manual squad from ’79-’81 at the Quarterback position. He scored the game winning TD on a quarterback sneak in overtime during the final Rivalry game played on Thanksgiving day leading to a 6-0 victory for Manual. He was also an All-State Basketball player and went on to play basketball at the University of Louisville.

GAME SUMMARY

An amazing game throughout, Male got off to an early start scoring a touchdown on their first drive and even took a commanding 21-7 lead into halftime. After halftime however, the Crimsons looked like a different team. They came out and put together a few great drives with the first being capped by an 85 yard Touchdown pass with nine minutes left in the third quarter. Manual followed that drive with a defensive stop and another Touchdown to ties it at 21 when the Manual Quarterback threw his third Touchdown pass, on fourth and goal, with only three minutes left in the game. With a tied up ball game and only three minutes to score, Male got a great kickoff return to put them in solid field position, this lead to a 44 yard Touchdown run by Great American Rivalry Series game MVP Ellis Cain. This score put the Bulldogs on top by a score of 28-21 and left Manual with no time to put together another drive.
