In February of this year, Devine and Hondo were moved out of the same district. However, both coaches were smart enough to schedule this non-district rivalry game. In this 93rd overall meeting, it had too much tradition not to be played. Arch rivals for almost 100 years, Hondo leads the overall series 58-33-2. However don’t be fooled, Devine is 7-3 since 2004. Hondo won last year in overtime. So the stage was set for 2014 and Friday night lights in Texas!

GAME SUMMARY

It was a rainy night in Hondo which really affected the crowd. The rain slowed a bit by start time and more fans begin to come out. Hondo strikes first then Devine answers but misses the extra point. Hondo scores again and once again Devine answers but goes for the 2 point conversion and fails. The game remained close all night but then Hondo breaks one for a TD late in the 4th and it looked like the Owls had it won. But the War Horses were not to be denied and scored late in the 4th for the go ahead TD. Devine held Hondo to under 70 yards of offense and gets the win 28-23.
