This rivalry got its start in 1956 and the game is so ingrained in the city’s Catholic culture that families schedule events to not conflict with the game. This game is promoted by the schools as the most-attended annual regular-season high school football game in the country, typically drawing more 35,000 fans. The two all-male schools of about 1,400 students each dominate football in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The teams enter Friday’s contest ranked atop the Kentucky High School Athletic Association as the Shamrocks hold the No. 1 spot. Trinity leads the all-time series 41-37-2. The teams have combined for 36 KHSAA recognized state championships. Trinity has won 24 state titles, as St. X claims 12.

Dennis Diemer

St. Xavier (KY)

Denis has been a member of the Tiger football team for four years. He won the Kentucky JV State Championship at 195lbs last winter. Denis carries a 3.99 unweighted GPA after his first three years. With AP courses on his schedule for his senior year, he has now accumulated a total of seven during years at St. X. A member of the National Honors Society in 2016-17, Dennis intends to attend the University of Louisville Speed School after graduation.
Ethan Hull

Ethan is a three-year letterman on the varsity football team and a three-year letterman on the varsity lacrosse team. He was selected 1st team All-Metro his junior year and selected preseason All-Metro his senior year in football. He is a member of Beta Club and the National Honor Society. He was awarded by College Board “AP Scholar” with honors.

GAME SUMMARY

It was all Trinity in this one. Shamrocks Quarterback Nick Bohn threw touchdown passes to four different receivers in route to a dominant 28-0 victory over arch-rival St. Xavier at Cardinal Stadium. In front of a giant 24,000 person crowd, Bohn truly had a dominant performance, completing 32 of 42 passes for 237 yards. Trinity has now won six straight meetings against St. Xavier and look dominant moving forward this season. It will be tough for anyone in the state to stop them.
