Dan and Dave Goetz
Bay City Western (MI)
Bay City Western twin brothers Dan and Dave Goetz were SVL All-Valley running backs that played key roles in both 1986 and 1987 Warrior victories over Bay City Central. As #42 and #24 were not just “mirror images” of themselves, but as equally prolific athletes on and off the field. Serving as Team Captains, in the 1987 game Dan carried the ball 18 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 72 yards for a third TD while Dave had 16 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Both were recognized as Co-Holders of the 1987 Golden Helmet Award as the area’s best Class A Football Players. As Track athlete’s they became Western’s first ever individual “All State” finishers, and competing in the Jr. National Track and Field Championships earning “All-American” honors in the Decathlon.
Dan was voted as the Top Male Scholar-Athlete of the Saginaw Valley League. Following graduation, they both earn “full-scholarships” to play football as defensive backs at Northwood Institute, where they earned NAIA Academic All-American Honors.
In 1999, Dan and Dave were inducted to the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame.
