This season’s second installment of the Perry Hall Gators vs Parkville Knights rivalry was an instant classic, as the Knights went on the road and brought home their second victory over the Gators this year. Perry Hall came out of the gate strong as they controlled the first quarter, scoring at will and playing stout defense to lead 24-16 going into the second quarter. From there, Parkville, led by scholar athlete and eventual game MVP Cam Alexander, caught fire. Alexander could not miss, as he made 3 after 3, and controlled the pace of the game, helping the Knights take a 37-30 lead into the break. The beginning of the second half saw more of the same from Parkville, as their defense stifled the Gators and they stretched their lead to 59-44 going into the fourth quarter. However, Perry Hall was not going to go down easily, as they upped their intensity, and went on a 17-4 run, led by forward Nnamdi Ezeaputa, to cut the deficit to 2 points with under one minute to play. Perry Hall had the ball with the chance to tie or take the lead, but the Parkville defense stood strong and got the stop they needed and sealed the game on the back of Cam Alexander, who made it a 2-possession game with a pair of free throws. The Knights brought home the 69-63 victory to snap Perry Hall’s 7 game win streak, as they hope to continue their winning ways the rest of the season and Perry Hall looks to start a new winning streak.
