GAME SUMMARY
Gaining positive yardage and first down conversions seemed tough to come by for both teams in the first quarter. The two teams only combined for one first down. But things took a turn when Good Counsel recovered a fumble on the Cadets’ 30-yard line, which led to an 8-yard touchdown run to put the Falcons up 7-0 going into halftime. From there, the GC Falcons broke the game wide open with an explosive play from senior wide receiver and Pittsburg commit, DaMarion Fowlkes, catching a short pass from sophomore quarterback and game MVP Jackson Rice and raced past Cadets’ defense for a 71-yard touchdown on the second play of the second half, putting Good Counsel up 14-0. Shortly after, SJC Cadets responded with a QB sneak at the goal line to put their first points on the board. In the third quarter, Falcon’s offense did not let up as Rice and Fowlkes connected once more for 77-yard touchdown. Rice and GC Falcons offense iced the game late in the fourth with a short touchdown pass to junior tight end, ending with a score 28-13 and defending their home turf against the SJC Cadets.
