Welcome to the historic Rose Bowl Stadium, where 10,000 fans will pack the stands for the annual Turkey Tussle — one of California’s most iconic high school football rivalries. Since its start in 1954, the showdown between the John Muir Mustangs and the Pasadena Bulldogs has been the centerpiece of Pasadena pride, tradition, and bragging rights. This year’s clash will be featured as part of the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series.
The two programs have squared off 78 times, with John Muir leading the all-time series 46–20–2. Last season, the Mustangs captured a decisive 47–13 win, extending their win streak to two games after Pasadena had taken the previous two meetings.
The rivalry has also produced NFL-caliber talent, including Calen Bullock, a recent third-round draft pick of the Houston Texans out of John Muir, and Chris McAlister, a three-time Pro Bowler who starred at Pasadena before his standout career with the Baltimore Ravens.
On October 31, expect an electric atmosphere as two proud programs once again battle under the lights of the Rose Bowl.
