In one of Texas high school football’s fiercest rivalries, the Hawks proved why they remain the standard in this city showdown. thanks to some massive plays from their MVP linebacker, Lucas Garza, Harlingen South’s defense dominated from start to finish. The Hawks took the wind out of the Cardinals sails from the first play and pitched a shutout, never allowing the Cardinals to find their rhythm. On offense, the Hawks controlled the tempo, capitalizing on key drives to put 17 points on the board and seal the victory. Tonight, the bragging rights stay with Harlingen South, as the Hawks walk away with a statement 17–0 win over their crosstown rivals, Harlingen High.

Colton is a defensive tackle for Harlingen High School with an impressive 4.39 GPA. He is the son of Richard and Lurae Caldwell and an active PTSA member. After graduation, Colton will attend Texas A&M University in College Station to continue his education. Let’s recognize Colton Caldwell!
Matthew Alvear

Matthew Alvear is a tight end for Harlingen High School South with an outstanding 4.42 GPA. He is the son of Alfredo and Corina Alvear and has excelled as both a student-athlete and community leader. Matthew has participated in football and basketball, earning All-District Honorable Mention in football his junior year. After graduation, he plans to continue his education at UTSA, Baylor, or UT-Austin. Let’s recognize Matthew Alvear!
