This is the 27th meeting of these teams, in what has been named the “Bird Bowl,” between the Harlingen Cardinals and Harlingen South Hawks. The neighboring schools have been battling it out since 1993 with Harlingen currently holding the series record 22-4.  Last year, the Cardinals reinforced their title with a 41-21 victory against the South Hawks.

William Herring

Harlingen High School

William has a 4.7 GPA and is a 2-year varsity letterman. He is ranked #4 out of 610 in his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a faithful member of the First Methodist Church. William plans to major in Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Presenting the award is Sergeant Yanza, Congratulations William!!
Joshua Rodriguez

Harlingen South High School

Joshua has a 4.2 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is in the top 10% of his class and is on the Honor Roll. Joshua plans to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice at Texas A&M University. Presenting the award is Sergeant Yanza, Congratulations Joshua!!

GAME SUMMARY

The Harlingen Cardinals defeated the Harlingen South Hawks 38-28. The Hawks scored three times in the fourth quarter, but could not defeat the cardinals. William Herring, from Harlingen, and Joshua Rodriguez, from Harlingen South, were awarded scholar athletes for tonights game. Rayden Berry was awarded MVP for this game.
