The Cony Rams defeated their arch rival from less than ten miles away, the Gardiner Tigers, on Friday night in front of more than 2,500 fans in the oldest rivalry in Maine football. On Senior Night, the home-standing Rams needed a victory to solidify their playoff spot, while the Tigers were looking for salvation in a rivalry victory that would save an otherwise very forgettable season. The Rams came out and put together a dominating first half to salt this one away early. After leading 56-0 at halftime, the Rams were on cruise control the rest of the game to ease into a 76-14 victory.

GAME SUMMARY

The Rams were led by Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player Ben Lucas who threw for six touchdowns and 220 yards on just 18 attempts. The story of this game, however, was the utter dominance by Cony on both sides of the ball. Cony led 20-0 with just over six minutes gone in the game and Lucas dominated the air getting all of his stats before halftime.
