The 116th edition of the Taylor Trophy game saw the Auburn Trojans take down the Kent-Meridian Royals. The action started fast, as Scholar Athlete and Auburn QB Baylen Erdmann marched his offense down the field to take the lead just a minute into the game. From there, the defense forced a three and out, leading to another quick Trojan touchdown. On the next possession, Kent-Meridian finally found their rhythm, as the Royal’s Scholar Athlete, KJ Frazier, punched in a goal line run to make it 14-7 in the first quarter. From there, it was all Auburn, as they relied on WR, and eventual game MVP, Lucas Whitehall-Gilkes, who torched the Royal’s defense all game on the way to 5 catches for 179 yards and 4 touchdowns. Kent-Meridian made a push in the second half, with a kickoff return taken to the house and a diving catch in the endzone to help narrow the gap, but it proved to be too little, too late. Auburn shut the door after that, as a kickoff return touchdown of their own proved to be the cherry on top of a 67-27 win and another year keeping the Taylor Trophy.
