Cherry Hill West vs Cherry Hill East

Welcome to Cherry Hill West Field in New Jersey, where 3,000 fans will gather for one of South Jersey’s most storied high school showdowns—the Battle for the Boot between the Cherry Hill West Lions and the Cherry Hill East Cougars. First played in 1969, this intense crosstown rivalry has delivered decades of passion, pride, and unforgettable Friday nights. This year’s clash will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, celebrating over 100 of the nation’s greatest high school football rivalries. 

Cherry Hill East leads the all-time series 32–24 and brought the Boot home last season, snapping an 11-game West win streak with an impressive 28–7 victory. The rivalry’s history runs even deeper, with NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham once suiting up for East and former NFL linebacker Gary Cobb making his mark at West—adding legendary names to this local classic. 

Circle October 9th as the 57th meeting unfolds. Will East build on last year’s momentum, or will West seize back the Boot and city bragging rights?

Toms River South vs Central Regional

New Jersey

Welcome to Detwiler Stadium on the New Jersey Shore, where the Central Regional Golden Eagles will travel to face the Indians of Toms River South. This is one of over 100 featured games in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

A rivalry that began in 1970 has been evenly matched, with both teams tallying six wins in their series since 2004. 

Last season saw an epic battle between the two in the Division Title game. The heavy road underdog, Toms River South, upset the Golden Eagles in a thrilling 33–26 victory to secure the division title. Their win was sparked by a first-quarter fake punt pass that went for a 65-yard score, shifting the momentum of the game. Prior to that matchup, Central Regional had enjoyed an excellent undefeated season, winning their first eight games.

Eastern Alamance vs Western Alamance

North Carolina

Welcome to Fred Brady Stadium in Elon, North Carolina, where 5,000 fans will gather for one of the region’s most fiercely contested matchups between the Eastern Alamance Eagles and the Western Alamance Warriors. First played in 1964, this rivalry has delivered decades of Friday night drama and will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, spotlighting over 100 of the nation’s most iconic high school football clashes. 

Since 2004, Western Alamance holds a 15–10 edge in 25 total meetings, including last year’s dominant 26–0 victory. The rivalry boasts proud alumni who’ve reached the game’s highest levels—most recently, former Western Alamance kicker Josh Karty, who was selected in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft and current kicker for the Los Angeles Rams.

Lakota West vs Sycamore

Ohio

Welcome to Firebird Stadium in West Chester, Ohio, where 5,000 fans will come together for a heated Greater Cincinnati rivalry between the Lakota West Firebirds and the Sycamore Aviators. First played in 1997, this showdown has become a highlight of the local football calendar and will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, which showcases over 100 of the nation’s greatest high school football matchups. 

Lakota West leads the all-time series 10–5 and has dominated recently, riding a five-game winning streak, including last year’s commanding 52–0 victory. The rivalry is built not only on local pride but also on a tradition of producing top-tier talent—NFL linebacker and super bowl champion Jordan Hicks (Eagles) and 4x pro bowl center Ryan Kelly (colts)  both starred at Lakota West before making their mark on NFL Sundays.

Odessa vs Permian

Texas

Welcome to Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas, where 18,000 fans will pack the stands for one of the most iconic high school football rivalries in the nation—the clash between the Odessa Bronchos and the Permian Panthers. First played in 1959, this legendary West Texas showdown will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, celebrating over 100 of the greatest matchups in high school football. 

Permian has long dominated the rivalry, leading the all-time series 46–10 and winning 9 of the last 10 meetings, including a 50–26 victory last season. But this game is about more than wins and losses—it’s about legacy. Both programs have a deep tradition of producing elite talent, with numerous NFL players having worn the black and white of Permian or the red and white of Odessa. This rivalry helped define Texas football—and it still delivers on every level.

Tuscola vs Pisgah

North Carolina

Welcome to C.E. Weatherby Stadium, where the stage is set for a North Carolina football matchup between the Tuscola Mountaineers and the visiting Pisgah Bears. A rivalry that began in 1966 has remained incredibly competitive throughout the years. Currently, Pisgah holds a narrow advantage, leading the series 31-28-1. This matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

In their last matchup, Pisgah snapped a two-year drought against the Mountaineers with a thrilling 10-7 victory. Both defenses played exceptionally well, but the true difference in the game was the three interceptions that Pisgah was able to force, shifting the momentum. Tuscola will be looking to avenge last season’s loss and inch closer to evening the all-time series between the two programs.

San Pedro vs Banning

California

Welcome to Mike Walsh Pirate Stadium, where the visiting Banning Pilots will face off against the San Pedro Pirates. In one of the most historic football rivalries in California, this season’s matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

This rivalry has been incredibly competitive leading up to their 2025 contest. San Pedro currently holds a narrow 43-42-1 lead over Banning. Offensive fireworks were prevalent in their 2024 matchup, with both teams attacking in different ways. The Pilots used their aerial attack to pass for four touchdowns, but the Pirates prevailed 37-26 with the strength of their heavy ground game. Both programs will look to make a statement and take down their rival in this year’s battle.

Highland Park vs St. Paul Central

Minnesota

Welcome to Highland Park Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, where 2,000 fans will gather for one of the city’s most tradition-rich matchups—The Musket Game between the Highland Park Scots and the St. Paul Central Minutemen. First played in 1964, this annual rivalry has become a celebrated part of local football culture. This year’s meeting will be featured in the 22nd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, honoring over 100 of the nation’s greatest high school football rivalries. 

Since 2004, St. Paul Central leads the series 12–9 in 21 total meetings, but Highland Park came out on top last year with a narrow 17–14 victory, adding fresh fuel to the rivalry. Beyond the scoreboard, the game carries a legacy of local pride, with NFL star Adam Thielen once taking the field in this energetic rivalry.

West Haven vs Fairfield Prep

Connecticut

Welcome to Ken Strong Stadium, where thousands of fans will pack the stands for a storied rivalry showdown between the West Haven Blue Devils and the Fairfield Prep Jesuits. First played on September 23, 1953, when Fairfield Prep claimed a 13–0 win, this rivalry has grown into one of Connecticut’s most tradition-rich matchups. Over the decades, the teams have battled for pride and playoff positioning, with West Haven holding a 13–3 advantage in the all-time series as of 2012.

Their most recent clashes added fresh intensity to the rivalry. On Thanksgiving Eve, November 27, 2024, Fairfield Prep hosted and defeated West Haven 21–14 in a hard-fought rivalry game. But just weeks later, in a CIAC playoff rematch, the Blue Devils stormed back with a decisive 42–7 victory to punch their ticket to the state championship. These back-to-back meetings underscored just how fierce and unpredictable this series remains.

On October 10, 2025, the next chapter will be written. Fans can expect a charged atmosphere under the lights at Ken Strong Stadium, where the Blue Devils look to defend their home turf and Fairfield Prep aims to swing momentum back in their favor. With decades of history, high stakes, and passionate fan bases, this game embodies the heart of Connecticut high school football.
