In 2012, the Upper St. Clair Panthers beat the Woodland Hills Wolverines 31-12 in the season-opener before losing to them 42-20 in the WPIAL AAAA semifinals. Woodland Hills, considered one of the top teams in the state, then went on to the title game for the third time in four years.

GAME SUMMARY

On this night, however, in front of over 6,000 fans at the Wolvarena, Upper St. Clair got its revenge. After earning a 16-10 lead, the Panthers forced two turnovers in the final four minutes, including pouncing on a bad snap with 24 seconds to go, stopping the Wolverines from getting the go-ahead score. Senior Mac Hope, who recovered the fumble, was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player.
