The Plano High School Wildcats and the Plano East High School Panthers look to carry on their over 30 year old rivalry this week. This rivalry has brought many firsts, like a rare tie between the schools in 1992 and a matchup of coaches in 2014 that didn’t just know one another – they were brothers. Those two brothers still lead the Wildcats and the Panthers today, proving that civility can come from a house divided. The Wildcats enter the game with a 2-4 record, while the Panthers, remembering a close 44-41 loss to Plano last season, come to the field with a 5-1 record and an overall state ranking of 21. Look for a close and fierce matchup between the teams this Friday.

GAME SUMMARY

Experts expected Plano East to come into this one and dominate following their first loss of the season after starting 5-0, but their slide continued and the Plano Wildcats pulled off the upset with a shocking and lopsided 41-19 win over the Panthers. The Wildcats have had a disappointing season so far in 2018, but as with any rivalry, winning this one will make their season. Plano improves their overall record this season to 3-4, while Plano East falls to 5-2, forcing them into a three-way tie in Division 9-6A in Texas. The Wildcats will look to bounce back next week against Jesuit.
