Two of the top teams in Western Michigan, the East Grand Rapids Pioneers and Lowell Red Arrows, battled through the rain in the 69th edition of a game often called Michigan’s fiercest rivalry. After last season’s four overtime thriller, this year’s game looked destined for overtime, until Lowell pulled off a late touchdown drive to escape 30-25.

GAME SUMMARY

Lowell jumped out to an early lead, but a gutsy comeback effort by EGR and their senior QB, Mikey Roth, put the Pioneers on top 25-23 with minutes remaining on the 4th Quarter. However, the Red Arrows, led by star QB and Great American Rivalry Series MVP Ryan Stevens, answered with a late Max Dean touchdown, his 4th of the game, to secure the 30-25 victory.
