GAME SUMMARY

Kickoff was pushed back by 45 minutes due to lightning and fans were not permitted to enter the stadium until 45 minutes before kickoff because of safety precautions. Even with the weather not being ideal, 10,000 fans showed up to witness this rivalry. Both teams have a similar style of play in which they rely heavily on ball control and defense. These styles were evident as Davidson led 7-3 at the half. The third quarter consisted of much of the same, as the only score was a field goal by Davidson. Entering the 4th quarter, Davidson was up 10-3. Mid way through the 4th, Darby’s quarterback Nick Powers got loose for a long touch down run that put Darby down by one. After Davidson was forced to punt, Powers took off yet again, scoring the game winning touchdown with a little over two minutes left in the game. The final score was Darby 15- Davidson 10. Nick Powers of Darby was awarded the MVP trophy.
