The second oldest rivalry West of the Mississippi, Hickman vs. Jefferson City has been an ongoing rivalry since the two teams played for the first time in 1911. This year marks the 114th meeting of these two teams in this historic and prestigious rivalry.

The two teams have been closely competitive for some time. Currently, Jefferson City leads the overall series with a record of 57-52-4 against Hickman.

The game is always a close one, though, and Hickman will be looking to make a dent in the Jefferson City lead with a win this Friday night.

Ryan Brooks

Ryan is a 3-sport athlete (football, basketball, track). Ryan was elected by his peers as a team captain for his work ethic and leadership skills. Ryan does a great job leading by example, as well as, helping hold his teammates accountable. Ryan is also an excellent student. Ryan takes advanced classes and performs exceptionally in classroom and also serves as a leader in the hallways.
Charlie Monroe

Hickman

Charlie, a varsity letterman for the past 3 years, is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (the Math honor society). This past summer Charlie volunteered for the Athletic Performance Institiute as they hosted youth football clinics in Columbia. He is undecided on his degree path but does plan to continue his football career at the college level.

Ryan Griffin

Jefferson City

Ryan was member of 1997 State Championship Football team. He was a 2 year All-State Jefferson City Football 1998 and ’99 as well as a 3 year All-District Jefferson City Football 1997, ‘98, ’99. Ryan is second all-time yards rushing for a season and touchdowns in a season with 1,596 yards in 1998 and 25 touchdowns in 1999. Ryan went on to play football for Central Methodist.
Tom Travis

Hickman

Coach Tom Travis was Head Coach for the Hickman Kewpies from 1972-92. He ranks second all-time in career wins at Hickman with 130 wins. After leaving Hickman, Travis coached for 19 more seasons in Texas. The two things he remembers most from this rivalry is coaching against his former coach, Mr. Pete Atkins, and that he never had to motivate his players during “Jays Week”. Accepting the award on his behalf is JD Coffman.
