The Page Pirates defeated their arch rival from less than five miles away, the Grimsley Whirlies on Friday night in front of more than 10,000 fans in one of the top rivalries in all of North Carolina football. This game would go a long way towards determining one of the final playoff spots in the district. The Whirlies came out and put together an eight-minute drive culminating in a field goal, but the tide quickly turned as the Pirates would score an unanswered 33 points on their way to a 45-14 victory.

GAME SUMMARY

The Pirates were led by Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player Dominick Britt who threw for two touchdowns and his fellow quarterback Jalen Gavin who rushed for over 100 yards and a score. The story of this game, however, was turnovers. Grimsley turned the ball over twice, including two separate punts that went awry and were recovered for touchdowns early in the game. Grimsley did not give up and made big plays on defense, including two safeties, to do everything they could to stay in the game.
