GAME SUMMARY

Things looked bright for Gaffney as this game started. The Indians scored on a 96 yard pass play on their first play from scrimmage to go up 7-0. However, the Rebels from Byrnes would put a stop to any kind of momentum Gaffney thought they may have had. Byrnes drove down the field immediately after that first play and scored a touchdown themselves, tying the game 7-7. From there, Byrnes QB and Rivalry Series MVP Lawrence Scott took over. Running and passing, Scott led the Rebel offense to an eventual 27-7 lead with 5 minutes left, while the Byrnes defense also did their job, holding Gaffney steady. The game would finish up as an easy Byrnes victory, 34-14, pushing the Rebels to 4-1 and dropping Gaffney to 4-1 also.
