The Bakersfield Drillers will take on the Frontier Titans this Friday night at Bakersfield’s Griffith Field. Bakersfield has won the first 2 meetings between the schools, including a 42-35 win last season. Frontier High School opened its doors in 2006 and this is the first year they will be making the jump from Division II to Division I in the CIF Central Section. Both teams play in the Southwest Yosemite League (SWYL), a league that Bakersfield dominated last season.

BJ was a star during his 2011 and 2012 seasons against Bakersfield during their rivalry. BJ had 6 receptions totaling over 200+ yards, 2 touchdowns, and over 20 tackles for the two rivalry games. He graduated with a 3.5 GPA and is currently playing at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo.
Marshall Dillard

Frontier

Marshall broke virtually every record during his 3 years as a Driller tailback. He had an unprecedented 52 carries in a single game in 1982. At one time he all of the rushing and scoring records for Bakersfield. With his combination of speed and power, Marshall went on to play at Stanford University where he lettered in 1983, and 1985-1987.

GAME SUMMARY

Bakersfield jumped out to a 14-0 lead early. However, Bakersfield then committed five turnovers, including two late in the 2nd half. Frontier jumped on all those turnovers and came back for a 28-21 victory.
