Fort Hill vs. Allegany is a legendary rivalry at each school and is one of the oldest rivalries in the nation. This year the two teams will once again battle for the Iron Kettle on Saturday. More than 10,00o fans will pack the stands again this weekend to watch this legendary rivalry once again. Fort Hill has dominated the rivalry in recent years, winning ten straight, including a 48-13 victory in 2016 and a 56-21 victory last season. Allegany will look to curb the tide in this one, while Fort Hill hope to continue their momentum.

Parker Preaskorn

Allegany

Parker is a 2-year varsity athlete on the varsity football team. During his junior season, he was named to the second team of the Cumberland Times News all area football team. Parker is the Treasurer of National Honor Society and named the Rotary student athlete of the month for October. Parker is undecided on his college major and university, but he plans to attend a 4-year university in the fall of 2019.
Blake Beal

Fort Hill

Blake is 3 sport stand-out athlete. Blake is a member of the National Honor Society and has received multiple awards at Fort Hill including the Outstanding Achievement Award in AP Government and Politics as well as receiving the Most Outstanding Junior Male Athlete Award. He also serves as a volunteer as his local church. Blake plans to major in Biology/Biochemistry and hopes to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Scott Bauer

Allegany

Scott played in the homecoming rivalry during 1988 and 1989. As a junior, Scott led his team to a 20-0 victory over Fort Hill and received offensive player of the game for his dominant play. He helped Allegany secure consecutive Maryland class 2A State championship in 1988 and 89, and was named the Thom McCann Offensive Player of the Year in 89. Scott is a special education teacher at his Alma matter. Scott was the head coach of the 2000 State Championship girls’ basketball team, currently in his 25th year as assistant coach on the football team and is currently the Head Baseball Coach.
Todd Appel

Fort Hill

Todd played in the rivalry game his junior and senior years. Todd was the defensive captain and led his team to a shutout victory over Allegany 21-0 his senior year. As a player, Todd was named 1st Team All-Area, All-CVAL and All-City. Todd has been named Area coach of the year 8 of the last 10 years and His teams have the highest win percentage in the history of Fort Hill football.

GAME SUMMARY

The Fort Hill Sentinels came into this game determined to prove their dominance in this rivalry is no fluke, and they did just that. Right from the opening kickoff, Fort Hill looked the better team. The Sentinel defense, meanwhile, stifled the Allegany offense all afternoon, completely shutting them out on the day. In the end, the Sentinels could not be stopped for a final score of 38-0 for yet another victory in this intense rivalry.
