Rocklin vs. Del Oro is a game characterized as a battle of the “Shield” which is in honor of a fallen police officer from the area. The schools themselves are seated six miles apart and most of the kids grew up knowing one another throughout little league and grade school. This game is also a battle between conference foes, so not only is the game a rivalry game it also has playoff seeding implications. Entering the contest Rocklin was 4-2, while Del Oro was 6-1.

Alex Baur

Rocklin

Alex is a scholar, 3-sport athlete participating in Football, Basketball and Baseball all four years at Rocklin High School. His football accolades include “Outstanding Defensive Lineman” his sophomore year and “Team MVP” his freshman year. He recently was awarded the “Sportsmanship Award” at our annual Quarry Bowl game. Alex currently serves as Treasurer of California Scholastic Federation & Honors Society Clubs here at Rocklin. After high school, Alex plans to attend a 4-year college to major in Biology and become a doctor.
Camrion Davis

Del Oro

Camrion is a returning All-SFL RB/LB and ran for over 200 yards in the State Bowl game victory. He is a leader on campus and in the community with academic achievements, community reading programs and Evening of Dreams.

Chase Baker

Rocklin

Chase played in the Rivalry in 2005 during his Junior year. Chase’s achievements for Rocklin football has set the foundation for what Rocklin Football has become today. Chase led his team to a Section appearance vs. Del Oro in 2005. His Senior year he suffered a knee injury and was unable to participate but still received a full-ride scholarship to Boise State University where he flourished as a Defensive Tackle. At Boise he was a 3 year starter, highlighted by Boise’s win over TCU in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. Chase continued his football career in 2012 by making the practice squad for the Minnesota Vikings and in 2013 he made the active roster. Chase is the first Rocklin High School football player to make an NFL team. He currently lives locally and is giving back time on our Varsity coaching staff as he pursues the next chapter in his life.
Brandon Monroe

Del Oro

Brandon played in the inaugural Del Oro/Rocklin Great American Rivalry Series game in 2012. Brandon was a senior and led the team to a last second 38-35 win. In the game, Brandon rushed for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also returned an interception 60 yards for a TD. In the 2012 Season, Brandon was selected as the Player of the Year in Sacramento. He earned a scholarship to play football at San Jose State University where he is currently playing.

GAME SUMMARY

Del Oro started off the scoring in this game with a rushing touchdown, followed by a completed two-point conversion to make the score 8-0 at the start of the second quarter. The rest of the first half was filled with punts and penalties as neither team could manage much offense. Therefore, the halftime score remained Del Oro 8 and Rocklin 0. The third quarter started with a bang as Del Oro scored a quick rushing touchdown along with the two-point conversion to take the lead 16-0. Rocklin’s offense couldn't’t manage much to help their cause as Del Oro added a field goal in the third quarter as well to make the score 19-0. Rocklin came out in the 4th and provided back-to-back touchdowns to make this a ball game at 19-14. However, eventual game MVP Stone Smart put the icing on the cake with a late 4th quarter rushing touchdown to make the game 26-14 and that was your final score.
