This is what many football fans in the state of Tennessee would describe as the best rivalry in the entire state. Two schools, separated by 5 miles, who are at the top of the rankings for their respective classes, year in and year out. This year’s matchup was another classic, with Alcoa coming off of a 3A state championship in 2015 and Maryville coming off of a 6A state runner up in 2015.

Maryville

Matthew is a 3-year letterman in both football and soccer. He is a Maryville Scholar, National Merit Semi-Finalist, Student Council President, and member of the National Honor Society. He plans to pursue a degree in Political Science.
Cade Evans

Alcoa

Cade is a 3-year letterman on the varsity football team and a 3-year starter. He was selected all-region in 2015 and listed as pre-season all-state for this 2016 season. Cade is a member of National Honor Society and is recognized as top ten percent in his graduating class.

GAME SUMMARY

The game was an offensive showcase. Maryville started out the first half of action hot, as they had a big lead going into halftime. Alcoa threatened in the second half, but Maryville did not get phased. They scored immediately after Alcoa cut into the lead, and they strolled to a victory with the final score being 43-29.
