Westmoore 31, Southmoore 13 (9/13/13)

September 14, 2013

MOORE, OK — Westmoore had no trouble dispatching its rival on Friday night.

The Westmoore Jaguars beat the Southmoore SaberCats 31-13. Over 12,000 fans were in attendance at Moore Stadium for the game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The area featuring the two schools — which that only miles apart — was hit by a devastating tornado in May that left many of the players without homes.

Receiver Dahu Green had eight catches for 68 yards and two scores to be named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. Quarterback Bryson Lee completed 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards and three TDs.

Southmoore (1-1) is at Moore next Friday night, while Westmoore (2-0) is at Norman North the same night.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
