Summerville 17, Ft. Dorchester 3 (9/16/11)

September 17, 2011

by Leah Little

Summerville’s legendary Coach McKissick battled his long-time assistant Coach LaPrad from Ft. Dorchester, who has never beaten his mentor.

FD came into the game with an explosive offense that everyone was taking about. Summerville came with confidence and an eight-year streak over the Patriots.

Fumbles and interceptions marred the offensive attack of the Pats. The Green Wave defense forced multiple turnovers and missed opportunities and dominated the game. Leading 10-3 with only a few minutes left, Summerville held off a last chance drive by FD.

The crowd come to its feet as the Patriots mounted a last minute goal line stand. Driving play by play to the goal line and looking unstoppable, FD almost pulled off the upset. But it was not to be as MVP Aaron Smalls intercepted on the goal line and ran it all the way back for the score.

Summerville continues its dominance over FD and chalks up another win for Coach McKissick in his 60th season–yes, 60th and still going strong.
