South Panola 46, Olive Branch 7 (10/3/2014)

The South Panola vs. Olive Branch game is a huge district game that usually determines who will advance from the district to state playoffs. These two teams play annually with South Panola winning the majority of the matchups. Olive Branch is under a first year head coach and are struggling with a 3-2 record to start off the first half of the season. South Panola on the other hand was 5-0 going into the matchup and were ranked #2 in the state of Mississippi and #27 in the nation.

The home team, Olive Branch, began the game with the ball and drove down the field with ease. When they were stopped on a 3rd down they were forced to settle for a field goal attempt that sailed wide right. From there on it was all South Panola. The tigers put up a huge 2nd quarter, taking advantage of their strong run game and accumulating 30 points in the second quarter alone. Olive Branch’s defense stepped up in the second half but couldn’t get things going offensively. The final horn sounded with South Panola raising the championship trophy. Final score: South Panola 46 Olive Branch 7.
