Saraland 35, Daphne 28 (8/29/14)

In a wet downpour Saraland held Daphne on four downs in at the goal line in the final seconds to secure a 35-28 victory.

This rivalry game is the beginning of a big region rivalry, due to redistricting. The first game for Daphne regardless who they are playing is always the single most attended football game in the Daphne area and the most talked about game all year between the two schools. Both Saraland and Daphne are highly ranked teams among the community.

Daphne and Saraland scored touchdowns back to back in the first quarter, Daphne then took the lead. Saraland scored 21 unanswered points to take control of the game, then made a defensive stand deep in their own territory was time expired, with the game tied 21-21 at the half, Saraland got an 11-yard TD pass from quarterback Chris Weaver to running back Sean Long and a bulldozing, 36-yard run by Long to take a commanding 35-28 lead.
