Sachem North 21, Commack 14 (10/17/2014)

October 18, 2014

This match-up between Long Island powers is traditionally highlighted by close finishes, evident in last year’s match-up in which Commack beat Sachem North with a game winning field goal. This year’s battle was physical and competitive, with Sachem’s defense coming up big on Commack’s final drive to clinch the 21-14 victory. Sachem North, led by Kevin Bragaglia, fell behind early on a quick TD drive by Commack. Bragaglia was a force on offense and defense, rushing for 116 yards on 26 carries with a rushing and receiving TD, as well as earning a key interception on a Commack drive late in the third quarter. Bragaglia was named the 2014 Great American Rivalry Series MVP.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
