PREVIEW: Page vs. Grimsley (NC)

GREENSBORO, NC – The Page Pirates and the Grimsley Whirlies will meet for the 53rd time on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (EST) at historic Jamieson Stadium. Over 10,000 fans are expected for a game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

Page won last season’s matchup 49-25 for its fifth straight win in the series, which it leads by a large margin (41-11).

The Pirates, coached by Kevin Gillepsie, are 3-4 after going 7-5 last season. They lost to Southeast Guilford 28-21, despite quarterback Jalen Gavin rushing for 203 yards and a TD.

The Whirlies, coached by Pat Neal, are about right where they were last season when they finished 4-6. They are 3-4 right now after a 55-40 win over Southern Alliance, a game in which backs Scott Johnston and Malik Stinson combined for 355 yards and seven scores.
