PREVIEW: Oak Hills vs. Colerain (OH)

October 30, 2013

CINCINNATI, OH – The Colerain Cardinals will attempt to cap off a second straight undefeated regular season when they take on the Oak Hills Highlanders on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (EST) at Oak Hills High School Stadium. Over 6,000 fans are expected for a game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

Ranked No. 1 in the state and top 20 nationally, Colerain is 9-0 after a 49-10 win over Middletown. Colerain, looking for its eighth undefeated season, hasn’t lost to Oak Hills in over a decade (48-29 win in 2012) and hasn’t lost a Greater Miami Conference game in the last four years.

The Cardinals, who went 12-1 and lost to Moeller 24-21 in the Division I, Region 4 Championship Game last season under coach Tom Bolden, are led by the rushing attack of senior quarterback Kelvin Cook and back De Tuan Smith. Both have rushed for over 1,000 yards and have combined for 28 TDs.

Coached by Dan Scholz and coming off a 5-5 season, the Highlanders are 5-4 after a 10-7 loss to Lakota West. Senior quarterback Matt Elliott has thrown for close to 1,200 yards and 10 TDs, while senior back Demarco Ruffin has ran for over 850 yards and 12 scores.
