PREVIEW: Crespi vs. Notre Dame (CA)

October 21, 2013

ENCINO, CA – Expect another close one when the Crespi Celts tangle with the Notre Dame Knights on Friday at 10 p.m. (EST) at Crespi High School. Over 5,000 are expected for a game that’s part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The last six games in the series have been decided by six points or less with the last four coming down to the final play. In last season’s thriller, Notre Dame won 40-34 in a fourth overtime.

The Celts, coached by Troy Thomas, beat Loyola 32-14 to move to 3-4 on the season. Sophomore Jalen Starks ran for 183 yards and three scores in that game. The Celts went 8-2 last season.

After going 8-4 last season, the Kevin Rooney-coached Knights are 5-2 after a 35-27 loss to Alemany.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
