September 28, 2013

PORT HURON, MI — The Brick Fowler Trophy belongs to Port Huron — again.

The Port Huron Big Reds shut out the Port Huron Northern Huskies 28-0 on Friday night at Memorial Stadium. More than 6,000 fans were in attendance for the game that was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The Big Reds have now won three straight in the series, despite still trailing 32-15 all-time.

Quarterback Dalton Biedler accounted for two scores — a 32-yard TD pass to Billy Lemon along with a 21-yard TD run — for Port Huron, which got four interceptions from its defense. Malik Evans had a 10-yard TD run and was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player.

Port Huron (4-1), which has won four straight, is at Romeo next Friday night, while Port Huron Northern (2-3), which already doubled last season’s win total, hosts Grosse Pointe South the same night.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
