Nacogdoches 38, Lufkin 35 (09/26/2014)

September 27, 2014

This rivalry game is the “oldest” rivalry in Texas, and played in the oldest town in Texas. With a sold-out stadium, this rivalry game is much anticipated with a new era in Nacogdoches football. For the last several years, the Lufkin Panthers have won every game, until last year when new Coach Reyes took the Nac Dragons to a win!

Nac came ready to play with the defense getting Lufkin to turn over the ball, letting the Dragons put the first touchdown on the board! It wasn’t until the 2nd quarter that Lufkin finally scored, but after that the two teams stayed neck and neck till the very end of the game, with Nacogdoches taking the win for the second year in a row, 38-35!

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
