Boutt, LA:  Sept. 18, 2015 – The Great American Rivalry Series is proud to announce that it will feature the brutal Battle on the River as cross-river rivals in St. Charles Parish the Hahnville Tigers host the Destrehan Wildcats in the Series’ sixth weekend of games for 2015. This game will be presented by the United States Marine Corps and played on Friday, September 25 at Hahnville High School. This year’s game will also be one of two Game of the Week Broadcasts on the Great American Rivalry Broadcast Network and will be LIVE from Boutte, LA. It is being presented by the Press Play Production team of St. Charles Parish in partnership with and will begin broadcasting on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6:00 PM CST (7:00 PM EST). Featuring some of the longest running rivalries in high school football, the 2015 Great American Rivalry Series will feature 100 showdowns nationwide.  All of these great games come with great football, hard earned sweat and a heavy dose of hometown pride.

For the 12th year, the Great American Rivalry Series has selected an exclusive collection of top-notch rivalries across the country, covering 40 states and over 100 cities throughout the country. In Louisiana’s St. Charles Parish the East Bank vs. West Bank rivalry sizzles as one of Louisiana’s most heated football rivalries takes the field. The rivalry has escalated over many years of great success at both schools in football. Destrehan has won four state championships, including in 1949 (1A), 1973, 2007 and 2008. They won a six-on-six state title in 1941 and are the two-time reigning 5A state champions. They were state runner-ups in 1993. Hahnville won state championships in 1949 (Class B), 1968, 1972, 1992, 1994 and 2003. They were state runner-ups in 1995. In this series, Destrehan holds a 37-23 lead.

The winning team earns year-long bragging rights and will take home the Great American Rivalry Series Champions trophy, presented by the Marines. The game’s Most Valuable Player and the top student-athlete from each school are also recognized as part of the Series. Along with these awards, an alumnus from each school will be inducted into the 12th class of the Great American Rivalry Series Hall of Fame.
