This old Illinois rivalry got its start in 1913, and has missed a few years in between. They played their 96th game in 2014. Except for an unprecedented 19-year win streak by Geneva during the 1967-1985 seasons under legendary Coach Jerry Auchstetter, the series is fairly close. The current record is 51-40-5 with Geneva leading the series, though Batavia has won the past four years in a row. Both teams are coming into the game with unbeaten conference records.
The winning team will take home the Great American Rivalry Series Champions trophy, presented by the Marines. The game’s Most Valuable Player and the top student-athlete from each school are also recognized as part of the Series. Along with these awards, an alumnus from each school will be inducted into the 12th class of the Great American Rivalry Series Hall of Fame.
