Manatee 48, Southeast 6 (9/30/11)

October 1, 2011

By Jon Ford

It was cool night in the bay area of Florida as these two Bradenton rivals came out ready for the Great American Rivalry Series. The first quarter was 3-0 Hurricanes, and the game to this point was all about field position. Both punters during the 1st quarter were stars. Manatee’s punter pinned Southeast on their on 2-yard line.

The end of half the score was 27-6, and Manatee had their foot on the pedal. Southeast could never get anything going. Although they were playing with great pride, the Hurricanes were just too much for them. The final score was 46-6.

Southeast fans were disappointed but their team gave a valiant effort. The night ended with the Hurricanes hoisting the Championships trophy high in the air for all to see.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
