LONGVIEW, TX — Longview has struggled against Lufkin lately. Not this time.

The Longview Lobos blitzed the Lufkin Panthers 55-30 on Friday night at Lobo Stadium in front of over 9,500 fans. The game is part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The Lobos had been just 5-15-1 in the series since 1994, but have now won two straight in the series, which is now tied at 35-35-4. This was the 74th meeting.

Junior back JaMycal Hasty had 24 carries for 204 yards and three scores to be named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. He had TD runs of 29, 5 and 67 yards. He has offers from Texas A&M, TCU, Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech.

Junior quarterback Dezmond Chumley accounted for three scores for the Lobos, who led 35-10 at halftime.

Longview (3-1) hosts Mesquite next Friday night, while Lufkin (1-3) hosts A&M Consolidated the same night.
