The Great American Rivalry Series featured what USA Today called “America’s most famous high school rivalry” as the Canton McKinley Bulldogs hosted the Massillon Washington Tigers on Saturday, October 31 in the Series’ eleventh weekend of games for 2015. This game was be presented by the United States Marine Corps and was played at Fawcett Stadium in Canton. The 2015 contest was the 126th meeting of the Tigers and Bulldogs in this famed rivalry. Overall the Tigers lead the series 68-52-5. Over the years Massillon has won 24 State Championships and claimed 9 national championships while McKinley has 12 State Championships and 2 national championships. Massillon has the third highest number of wins of all high schools with 853 and McKinley comes in eighth with 812. The series draws nearly 19,000 fans each year though in 2001 29,500 came to see the two teams battled it out in the Division 1 Region Semifinal, their second meeting of the season. The Tigers came into the 2015 game with a 4 win streak after downing the Bulldogs 31-21 in 2014.
