This game was not only about a long standing Rivalry and walking away with the USAF Great American Rivalry Series trophy this game also secured either team a spot in the play offs. Tension was high before the game event started with much press surrounding this event. Sports writers around the area predicted that Lee would be victorious.

Despite media predictions John Tyler was not going down without a fight and stayed close to Lee in the first quarter. By halftime the score was 21-6 Lee and eventually Lee won the game with the score 28-12.

Backfield defense was key in the victory on Friday night and they kept JT from making a late game comeback, as they have been known to do. Chase Wiley, the USAF Great American Rivalry Series MVP, rushed for 126 yard and 12 carries showing everyone at the game why he was chosen MVP.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
