Hillsboro 49, Glencoe 28 (9/12/2014)

September 15, 2014

Glencoe had a 24-9 series edge over Hillsboro in the Rivalry, including a 49-22 win over the Spartans in 2013 and a 50-7 win over their rival in 2012. The Rivalry really started, according to Hillsboro AD Steve Drake, when they started having to share Hare Stadium with Glencoe in the 90’s. But in 2014 the night belonged to the Spartans who crushed the tide with an offensive show that yielded 49 points. MVP Evan Nelson made 10 catches for 129 yards but he wasn’t the only star. Cricket Browning scored three touchdowns and quarterback Matt Jones threw for over 300 yards to also lead Hillsboro. It was all Spartans from the jump and Glencoe could never catch up. Hillsboro is now the self appointed “Kings of Hillsboro”. Final score was 49-28.
