Sitting just outside Columbus, Ohio, Hilliard is a tight-knit community that always comes together for the annual battle between the two biggest teams in the town, Hilliard Darby and Hilliard Davidson.

The teams are always close in talent, with Hilliard Darby taking last year’s defensive battle 9-6 over Hilliard Davidson. Darby coach put it best last season as his team claimed the victory, saying, “I think anyone who comes to one of these games between these two teams knows what to expect, and we didn’t disappoint them.”

Hilliard Davidson

Grant is a great student athlete at Darby High School with a GPA of 3.885. He works hard both in the classroom and on the football team. He also takes part in baseball and intramural basketball at Hilliard Darby. He hopes to continue is football career at the collegiate level.

Evan Annis

Hilliard Darby

Evan is a 2-year letterman on the varsity football team and a 3-year letterman in lacrosse. He was a 1st team all OCC linebacker selection in 2017 and a 2nd team selection in 2016. Evan wants to continue his football career after high school and attend medical school.

Jeremiah Detmer

Hilliard Davidson

Jeremiah was part of the rivalry for 3 years. In 2008 versus Darby JD was part of the 21-14 win. In 2009, he was part of the 42-0 win in route to the state championship season. His senior year 2010, he was also part of the 21-0 win. After graduating high school, JD went on to play 4 successful seasons at the University of Toledo. He then signed with the Chicago Bears. With his playing days over, JD is currently working with Young Life in the Toledo area.

Cameron Kohl

Hilliard Darby

Cameron played linebacker and full back for the panthers from 2009 to 2013. He finished his Darby career as all-time leading tackler with 376 tackles. He was a 3-time all-conference selection and Honorable Mention All-Ohio pick as senior. He was also named first team all-district and second team all-metro. Cameron continued his football career at Ohio Dominican. Among his many accomplishments he was First Team All-Great Midwest as well as a nominee for Cliff Harris Award as best small college defensive player.

GAME SUMMARY

It was a defensive struggle in Hilliard, Ohio on Friday night as the Davidson Wildcats took on the Darby Panthers. Davidson coach, Brian White, who has a reputation for gutsy play calls, pulled another gutsy call out of his pocket last night, calling a well choreographed play-fake on 4th and 2 at Darby's 37 yard line. Wildcats QB Carson Felicetty ran the play all the way into the end zone to give Davidson a 14-0 lead and kill off the game. But take nothing away from the Davidson defense, which held Darby scoreless, not giving an inch of space to get going. The WIldcats from Hilliard Davidson, under Coach White, are looking to have another successful season and get back to the promiseland, like they did when they won state in 2006 and 2009. Friday night's game was certainly the kickstart they were looking for.
