CHANDLER, AZ — Hamilton is one of the best teams in the country. That was proven on Friday night.

The top-ranked Hamilton Huskies overpowered the Brophy Broncos for a 26-9 win at Hamilton High School in front of more than 12,000 fans. The game was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The Huskies, ranked No. 18 in the nation by MaxPreps.com, went 12-2 last season en route to their seventh state title in 15 years. They are 184-17 since 1998.

Junior receiver Brandon Krcilek was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player after catching five balls for 167 yards for Hamilton. He had a 75-yard reception late in the game that set up the game-sealing score.

Senior quarterback Sammy Sasso finished with 226 yards and a TD for the Huskies, who finished with 373 total yards. Senior back Tyrell Smith added 109 yards and two scores.

Hamilton (2-0) hosts Pinnacle next Thursday night, while Brophy (1-1) hosts Centennial the same night.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
